In our interview with Farren Morgan, we dived into his form of training, the supplements he uses, and why the supplements are an important contribution to his fitness regime, as a renowned Tactical Athlete.
Q: As a Tactical Athlete, what does your training consist of? And is there anything that you use to enhance your workouts?
A: I am constantly balancing training for effectively two different sports, a mix of cardio, and strength and conditioning training. Not to mention actual time in the field – a whole load of physical activity. Therefore, to perform my best and to reduce my risk of picking up an injury, I take daily supplements.
Q: Where do you get your supplements from?
A: Currently, I am a sponsored athlete with Grenade, so I have access to various supplements that best support both my work and my workouts.
Q: What supplements do you take as a Tactical Athlete?
A: I take several different supplements daily to support my work in the field, and in the gym. The types of supplements, provided by Grenade, that I use are Creatine, BCAA, Carb Killa Protein Bars, and Carb Killa Pre-made Shakes.
Q: Why do you take multiple supplements?
A: Each of the supplements that I take play a different role to support my work and diet. Through effectively using the combination of supplements I’m able to achieve optimal results in and out of the gym.
Q: Can you give us a breakdown of the different supplements, and why they play such a crucial role in your life as a Tactical Athlete?
A: Creatine is one of the world’s most researched sports supplements, used by all kinds of athletes to support recovery and muscle growth. Like other tactical athletes, I take creatine daily to ensure optimal recovery, but equally to maintain and increase muscle growth.
Branch chain amino acids, also known as BCAAs, are found naturally in certain foods, including meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and other foods. However, I also take BCAAs in supplement form to further increase my daily intake, they’re especially useful when in the field with restricted access to certain foods.
Similar to creatine, BCAAs also boost muscle growth and increase exercise performance. They’re most effective when taken before, or after exercise.
Carb Killa Protein Bars provide the essential macronutrients responsible for muscle growth, muscle repair and recovery, and other vital bodily functions.
Eating adequate protein ensures optimal performance, especially in recovering between hard sessions, whether it’s a heavy lifting session in the gym or a cardio session running laps.
They’re an extremely convenient way to get an extra kick from twenty grams of protein while consuming little sugar.
And lastly, there are the Carb Killa Pre-made Shakes which contain protein, amino acids, electrolytes, and other essential nutrients. Usually, I take these following a training session as they enhance recovery, and provide my muscles with much-needed nutrients.
As a tactical athlete, I can also take these pre-made shakes in the field, they are super convenient and a great snack on days when I’m rushed for time, or not able to access proper food.
