2019 was a big year for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The wrestler-turned-actor starred in box office hits including Hobbs & Shaw and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. At this pace, we might be getting more from the man this year. Especially with the possibility of his DCEU debut as Black Adam on the table. But while being a bona fide movie star has all the perks of fame and fortune, Johnson says nothing is ever simply handed to him.
“So, what it takes to become… we’ll just say a bankable actor – you guys could say ‘biggest movie star in the world’ – it takes, again, hard work and it takes perseverance.” If you think it’s all fun and games in production then you thought wrong.
“And again it takes context and perspective, especially when you get into this world of Hollywood and the business of Hollywood. Because it is so demanding and it’s incredibly difficult,” the actor adds as per Cinemablend.
Johnson also reflected on his past as a wrestling entertainer on WWE. “Yes, being in the ring is incredibly difficult, but the scope of the audience and the world that you now entertain and are responsible for in movies is global,” he points out about the difference between performing on screen and inside the ring.
“This is why it requires a consistent and very constant daily hard work. And also, very very important is trust your gut and trust your instincts on what the audience will really enjoy and love. That’s the most important thing.”
