Celine Dion has prepared a new English-language album for her fans and is about to head off to a world tour. But if there’s one thing the international superstar isn’t prepared for, it’s going back into the dating game.
Dion revealed that she hasn’t been back in the market since the death of her husband René Angélil back in 2016. “I don’t date. I’m not ready to date,” the songstress tells news outlet TODAY in a recent interview on Wednesday. Dion went on to share how grateful she is to have a support system to get her by.
“I’m very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surrounding to make me — they make me laugh,” she added.
However, the 51-year-old admits that she hasn’t quite gotten used to getting along saying:
“I miss to be touched. I miss to be hugged. I missed to be told, ‘You’re beautiful.’”
She then adds, “I miss what a boyfriend and I miss what a husband would do.”
Angélil — who also managed Dion’s career prior to his death — was her longtime lover. Their romantic involvement started back in 1988 when Dion was 19 years old and Angélil was age 46 at the time. The couple was married for over 20 years before Angélil died of cardiac arrest at age 71 in January of 2016.
The pair shared three children together conceived through in vitro fertilization.
I am at peace because I know that he doesn’t suffer,” Dion says about her late husband.
