UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has made a comparison between himself and the fictional superhero character The Incredible Hulk. Speaking in reference to his struggle to fulfil the Brexit mandate against strong opposition, Boris said that “the madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets”.
He went on to say “Hulk always escaped, no matter how tightly bound in he seemed to be — and that is the case for this country. We will come out on October 31,”
His comments were prompted by a recent vote in UK parliament to order the delay of Brexit so as to allow more time for an exit deal to be reached with the European Union. Currently, Mr Johnson is happy to pursue a ‘no deal’ exit which would fulfil the promise of the Brexit referendum but is predicted by many opponents to be a recipe for economic and administerial chaos.
MPs in UK parliament have rejected the exit deals that former Prime Minister Theresa May was negotiating with the European Union. One of the main points of contention is the future state of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland which would remain in the EU as an independent nation following Brexit.
Mr Johnson has expressed optimism that a solution to the Irish border problem would be reached.
